A very exciting run by Scarlet Dragon on his long awaited hurdling debut for Alan King in Kempton Park’s prestigious Dovecote Hurdle Saturday 24th Feb where he finished second. This prestigious event always attracts a good field and this year was no exception. Scarlet Dragon was very keen early on for Wayne Hutchinson, who rode a patient race and although no chance with the winner in the closing stages he ran on well finishing strongly in second place. His jumping was quick and almost faultless. A more than pleasing start to his new career.
Alan King in the Racing Post Weekender recently, enthused on how Scarlet Dragon’s class is showing through in both his work and schooling sessions at Barbury Castle.
He is Alan’s only entry in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham on Tuesday March 13th – the first race with the “Cheltenham Roar” and Alan will keep this under consideration.
