WHO DARES WINS PUTS UP CAREER BEST IN THE CORAL CUP
The Coral Cup is one of the most competitive handicaps at the four day Cheltenham Festival and it is an achievement to get a horse good enough to run in it. Who Dares Wins under a masterful ride from Wayne Hutchinson ran a blinder to finish 3rd at 33/1. He was prominent for most of the way before making a possible winning move after the third last to take it up. Sadly the handicapper, as we suspected, had his measure but make no mistake this was an excellent performance.
Alan King has suggested novice Chasing beckons next season but in the meantime a return to the Flat is very much on the agenda. The Chester Cup on Wednesday May 10th and the Ascot Stakes (June 20th) on the opening day of Royal Ascot are possible targets. He continues to take his enthusiastic owners on a very exciting journey.
WHO DARES WINS – EXCELLENT THIRD AT HUNTINGDON
Alan King was delighted with Who Dares Wins’ run at Huntingdon on Thursday 9th February where he finished third under top weight. He was giving lumps of weight to the first two and jumped and stayed on well.
WHO DARES WINS READY TO RETURN TO ACTION
Who Dares Wins has had a short break and Alan King will start looking for suitable races. An entry has been made at Huntingdon on Thursday 9th February in £25,000 handicap hurdle. Alan King reports him in good order and schooling well and although will carry top weight, must go there with an excellent each-way chance.
WHO DARES WINS OUT OF HIS COMFORT ZONE
Who Dares Wins was unable to build on his impressive Newbury victory at Ascot on Saturday December 17th in the valuable Wessex Youth Trust Handicap Hurdle. He was running off a 9lb higher mark but was unable to get competitive in this valuable contest. He was never happy and a return to two and a half miles is on the cards. A race like the Coral Cup at the Cheltenham Festival could be a possibility before returning to the flat. Saturdays race was always going to be a big ask for a four year old with that weight.
WHO DARES WINS IMPRESSES AT NEWBURY
Who Dares Wins put an unlucky episode at Cheltenham behind him to surge to a 9 length win in the Gerry Fielden Hurdle at Newbury (£45,000 pot) on Hennessy Gold Cup day. He is good and the Wessex Youth Centre (£150,000) Hurdle at Ascot on December 17th is on the agenda. Well done Wayne Hutchinson, by defaulting at Cheltenham we won a far more valuable prize. This progressive 7 race winner in the last 15 months, has an excellent future, both on the Flat and over hurdles.
WHO DARES WINS UNSEATS JOCKEY AT CHELTENHAM
Who Dares Wins has been a prolific winner for us, both on the Flat and over hurdles, winning 6 races. He unseated Wayne Hutchinson after the second flight – just one of those things. Horse and rider are unscathed and they will have another day. We need to make a plan B. He continues to be a very exciting horse and will give his owners a lot of fun in both spheres.
