Who Dares Wins has not run since finishing an excellent third in the Ascot Stakes at Royal Ascot. He will contest the very competitive Listed Chester Handicap race time 2.10 on Saturday 2nd September. His performance in his last three races has been nothing short of exceptional, finishing third in one of the most competitive staying hurdles in the UK at the Cheltenham Festival, the Coral Cup and backing this up with an unlucky fourth beaten just over a length in the Chester Cup, one of the most prestigious races in the calendar. His third over two and a half miles at Ascot speaks for itself, but don’t forget this horse is a winner three times over a mile and a half and coming back in trip should not be a disadvantage.
He has had a good break since Ascot and is entitled to improve again after tomorrow’s performance as the Cesarewitch at Newmarket on Saturday October 14th is his principal seasonal target. He is likely to be joined in that race by his stable companion First Mohican, who was second last year and picked up circa £46,000 for the trouble. A big prize is not far away for Who Dares Wins and he is already proven over hurdles, as well as that excellent performance at the Cheltenham Festival he won last year’s Gerry Fielden Hurdle at Newbury by a wide margin. We have a suspicion we have not yet seen the best of him.
